Marjorie Geraldine (Gerrie) Edgington went home to be with the Lord on November 4, 2009, after a courageous 16-month battle with breast cancer. Born on April 16, 1942, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, as Marjorie Geraldine Gallagher, Gerrie (a namesake given by her brothers) moved with the family to the San Gabriel Valley when she was six years old. In 1962, Gerrie married Thomas Edgington, and, three years later, the two moved to Saugus, Calif., to raise their family.

Gerrie was a devoted wife to Tom and mother to her four children, a gracious mother-in-law, a loving grandmother to 11 grandchildren, and a motherly figure to countless others she touched with her warmth over the years. Gerrie loved the Lord, and served him in many capacities. As a long-time member of Bouquet Canyon Church, she taught numerous Bible studies, Good News Clubs, Sunday School classes and Vacation Bible Schools. She was a law-enforcement wife, who was involved in civic, community and Christian support groups and organizations. In more recent years, Gerrie was an active member of the Quilt-‘N-Eat group, the Santa Clarita Valley Quilt Guild and the Santa Clarita Valley Antique Automobile Club.

Gerrie is survived by her husband, Tom; their children: Joanne (Chris Henning) of Castaic, Calif., Donna (David Beaver) of Santa Clarita, Calif., Diane (Derik Lindsey) of Santa Clarita, Calif., and Tom Edgington, Jr., of Glendale, Calif.; her 11 grandchildren: Julia, Claire and Jameson Henning; Joel and Jared Beaver; Jesse, Zachary and Brennan Silgero, Devin and Dakota Lindsey, and Sara Michon; her sister, Patricia Cale of Las Vegas, Nev.; and many nieces and nephews.

Gerrie's Favorite Hymn

Great is Thy faithfulness, Great is Thy faithfulness
Morning by morning new mercies I see
All I have needed, Thy hand hath provided
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord unto me.
